Biography

Professor Vasyl M. Klanichka was born on January 28, 1949, in the village of Dovhe, Tysmenytsia district, Ivano-Frankivsk region, Ukraine. In 1969, he graduated from the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of the Ivano-Frankivsk Pedagogical Institute.

He began his professional career as a physics teacher at Krasnoillivska Secondary School in the Verkhovyna district of the Ivano-Frankivsk region. From 1970 to 1973, he pursued postgraduate studies at the Department of X-ray Metal Physics of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, where he defended his PhD (Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences) dissertation in 1973.

Since 1973, Professor Klanichka has worked at the university as a lecturer, senior lecturer, associate professor, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics, and from 1982 — Dean of the Faculty. In 1991, he became Head of the Department of Theoretical and Experimental Physics. During 2003–2004, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Physics of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University. Since 2004, he has been the Director of the Institute of Natural Sciences of the same university.

Academic and Organizational Activity

During his tenure as Dean and Director, Professor Klanichka demonstrated outstanding organizational and leadership skills in establishing and developing university academic programs in physics, mathematics, chemistry, radiophysics and electronics, fine arts, technical drawing, finance and credit, accounting and auditing, which were formed on the basis of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics.

Under his leadership, new departments were successfully established, including Theoretical and Experimental Physics, Agrochemistry and Soil Science, Forestry, among others. Modern computer laboratories, teaching and methodological facilities, and new research laboratories in priority areas of natural sciences were created. A scientific-educational-production complex was established, integrating the Institute of Natural Sciences with enterprises, educational institutions of I–II accreditation levels, gymnasiums, and lyceums of the region to ensure high-quality specialist training.

Research Interests and Publications

The scientific interests of Professor Klanichka lie in the fields of liquid physics, physics and technology of thin semiconductor films, and solid-state chemistry. He is the author of more than 100 scientific publications, including monographs, textbooks, and patents.

Professor Klanichka is a permanent member and co-chair of the organizing committees of eleven international scientific conferences on the physics and technology of thin films, regularly held at the university and widely recognized in the scientific community.

National Academic Activity

Professor Klanichka serves as the Chair of the Scientific and Methodological Commission on Physics of Ukrainian Universities. He actively participates in the development of higher education standards, including educational and qualification characteristics and professional training programs for bachelor’s degrees in physics, as a member of national working groups on sectoral higher education standards in the field of Physics.
